Position Description

Position Summary

The Trauma Program Director (TPD) is a registered nurse who has expertise in trauma practice as well as program development. The ideal candidate will have experience with trauma programs which are nationally and/or state accredited preferably a Level I including both pediatric and adult patients. Knowledge of the American College of Surgeons requirements is highly desirable. The candidate will have had experience in oversight of various levels of professionals who make up the trauma team. Experience with oversight of registries, process improvement, injury prevention and community outreach is preferred. The TPD will be responsible for the organization of services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to injured patients.

The Director works in conjunction with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) to oversee the Level I Trauma verification by the American College of Surgeons. The Ideal candidate is considered a technical expert in the trauma field and is responsible for oversight of a highly complex patient population and program development. The candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with various outside agencies in the county.

The TPD is responsible for directing, evaluating, and providing feedback to professional level employees who participate in the operations of the trauma program and works closely with others to promote education and research. TPD will direct the work of other employees, occasionally from multiple cost centers, and is responsible for communication of resource needs across multiple departments.
